SKOWHEGAN, Maine (AP)   Two traffic islands in Skowhegan have received a facelift courtesy of a grant from Poland Spring.

Poland Spring nominated the Skowhegan Parks and Recreation Department to help fund the beautification of the two islands as part of its Calling 207 program. WABI-TV reports the Thursday beautification was worth up to $5,000.

Parks Director Denise Leblanc says she’s pleased with the support from Poland Spring, saying it highlights the scenic value of Skowhegan and how vital grants like this are to helping keep communities running.
