Police in Dover-Foxcroft are urging residents to be aware of a man in a vehicle who they say tried to lure a 7-year-old inside.

Police say the man was seen driving a dark-colored SUV, possibly a black Chevrolet, in the area of West Main street on Wednesday. The man was described as white, in his 20s with facial hair and a tan.

Police say he tried to lure the child inside by suggesting he was delivering a package, but the complainant who called police said he wasn’t expected a delivery and didn’t know who the man was.

Authorities are asking the public to be on the lookout for the vehicle.
