Police arrest Portland man in connection with sailboat theft

Portland police helped to recover a stolen boat and arrested the alleged thief on Sunday.

Police say the sailboat was reported stolen from Fore Points Marina just after 8 a.m.

It was spotted offshore and towed back to the marina by a Coast Guard crew, with an estimated $25,000 in damage.

43-year-old Jesse Drinkwater of Portland was arrested and faces several charges including theft and criminal trespass.
