Police arrest unhoused man in connection with stabbing

The stabbing of a man in Portland early Wednesday led to the arrest of a homeless man.

Police say the 41-year-old victim, who’s also unhoused, was found with an injury on his hand near Cumberland Avenue and Preble Street around 6 a.m.

Later in the morning, police arrested 37-year-old Christopher Hodgkins, who was charged with elevated aggravated assault and violating conditions of release.

The victim was treated and released from Maine Medical Center.
