BANGOR, Maine (AP) — Police say a Maine baby sitter who was found wandering around a neighborhood nude from the waist down told an officer she drank vodka and left the kids home alone.

WABI-TV reports that a tearful Lauren Gelinas pleaded not guilty Wednesday to two counts of child endangerment.

Police say she was supposed to be caring for two children, ages 2 and 4, at a Bangor home when she was found. Officers went to the home and found one child crying and lying in vomit while the other was asleep.

One child told police about allegedly being kicked by the baby sitter.

The baby sitter was being held on $500 bail. Her attorney didn’t immediately return a telephone message from The Associated Press.
