Police Bloodhound Credited With Saving 5-Year-Old Girl

Police are praising a bloodhound for saving a young girl with autism in Palermo.
Officers say bloodhound Millie led her handler and a game warden into the woods off Rowe Road to the missing 5-year-old girl in a cedar swamp, waist-deep in water.

They say the girl was saved without injury after the dog tracked a scent over a third of a mile from the girl’s home.
Millie is a 10-month-old Maine State Police dog who officers say is “proving herself time and again with her dedication, sweet disposition, and incredible nose.”
“We’re so proud of Millie and the team—here’s to many more successful missions!” state police said in a statement.
The girl was rescued at 5:30 pm Friday.
