Police charge man shot during confrontation with Sanford food truck owner

Police have arrested and charged a man who was shot after a confrontation with a food truck owner in Sanford.

Police responded to a report of a male yelling and carrying a knife in the intersection of Main St. and Lebanon St. on Dec. 1. The male, later identified as 29-year-old Ashe Schaffer, approached a nearby food truck and was shot during a confrontation with the owner.

Schaffer, who goes by “Scott,” was arrested Monday at Maine Medical Center where he was being treated for a gunshot wound to the leg.

Ashe was taken to Cumberland County Jail and is charged with Criminal Threatening and Reckless Conduct with a Dangerous Weapon.

The person who shot Ashe is not facing any charges.
