Police: driver in Gorham speeds away after striking utility pole

Part of Route 25, which is also known as Ossipee Trail, was closed Monday morning after a driver hit a utility pole and then sped away.

Police said a vehicle, which they think was a Toyota Tundra pickup truck, hit a utility pole around 11 p.m. Sunday in Gorham.

The driver left the scene, leaving behind a broken pole with wires across the road.

Several pieces of the truck were located by police, including a side mirror. They hope that will help them locate the vehicle and track down the driver.

Route 25 was closed between Clay Road and Wood Road while Central Maine Power replaced the pole.
