LIBERTY, Maine (WGAN)  State Police say a woman and a young boy were killed in a two-vehicle crash Wednesday evening on Route 3 in Liberty.

Police say 64-year-old Janice Minson from Verona Island and nine-year-old Colby Adams from Hope were killed.

Troopers say Minson was driving a car that crossed the center line and hit a pickup truck head on.  The boy was a passenger in the truck and died instantly. Minson died shortly after being taken to the hospital.

A second passenger in the truck, 15-year-old Samuel Levesque, was seriously injured.  He’s being treated at Maine Medical Center.  His injuries aren’t believed to be life threatening.

Police say this crash happened about a quarter mile from a fatal crash that happened on Route 3 Tuesday.

Police say they don’t have an immediate explanation why Minson’s car crossed the center line.
