Police identify man found dead in Somerville

Maine State Police have released the identity of a man found dead in Somerville after a confrontation with another man.

Shannon Moss with Maine State Police says 48-year-old Joel Williams was identified as the man found dead outside of a home where he was staying on Rockland Road on Wednesday.

An autopsy confirmed that Williams died from gunshot wounds, and his death was ruled a homicide.

The other man involved in the confrontation, 31-year-old Kyle Hunt of Jefferson, was found wounded about two miles away. He was treated and released from the hospital.

Details about the circumstances surrounding the shooting have not been released as the investigation continues.
