Police investigate after woman found dead along shoreline in Scarborough

SCARBOROUGH, Maine (WGAN) Scarborough police say an autopsy has been scheduled for a woman found dead on some rocks near a shoreline.

According to Chief Mark Holmquist, police responded to a report of a woman found unresponsive near the cliff walk along Winslow Homer road on Prout’s Neck around 12:30 p.m. Monday.

Maine State Police and the Major Crimes Unit were at the scene.

An autopsy will be conducted Tuesday morning to determine the cause and manner of death.

The victim’s identity is being withheld pending an autopsy and notification of next-of-kin.
