Police identify mountain biker who died in Maine state park

POWNAL, Maine (WGME) Police in Maine say a man who died at a state park in Pownal on Monday fell off his bike.

According to our info partners at CBS 13 news, the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office said 59-year-old Rodney Reed of Topsham was found dead on the side of a trail in Bradbury Mountain State Park. His body was found by hikers around 1 p.m. Monday. They attempted to resuscitate him but were unable to.

Police say Reed was fat-tire biking, which is a style of mountain biking, when he went off the trail. Investigators believe a traumatic neck injury from the fall was the cause of death.

Reed was wearing a helmet at the time.
