Police investigate death of Standish woman

The death of a woman in Standish is under investigation.

WMTW reports that Cumberland County sheriff’s deputies were called to a home on Dow Road shortly before 10 a.m. Wednesday, part of an assault investigation.

Deputies say they discovered the body of Amanda Brown of Standish.

The 29-year-old woman’s body was taken to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner for an autopsy.

Police also responded to an incident on Mayfair Way in Waterboro Wednesday.

According to WMTW, the York County Sheriff’s Office says a man was taken into protective custody and transported to the hospital.

Police have released no further information about the incident.

Police declined to say whether the two incidents were connected.
