NAPLES, Maine (WGAN) A single-vehicle wreck in Naples claimed the life of a passenger and left the driver with serious injuries.

Cumberland County Chief Deputy Naldo Gagnon says the crash happened on Lambs Mill Road near the intersection with Hideaway Road around 11:25 p.m. Sunday.

First responders arrived to find a pickup truck that had crashed into a tree and ended up on its side, trapping the driver and front passenger.

The driver, 21-year-old Chase Weese, was removed from the vehicle using the Jaws of Life and was taken by Lifeflight to Maine Medical Center with possible life-threatening injuries.

His passenger, 22-year-old Ashley Gentile-Wing of Pennsylvania, died at the scene. She was wearing a seat belt.

Both rear seat passengers managed to free themselves from the vehicle and were taken by ambulance to Maine Medical Center with suspected non-life threatening injuries.

The road was closed for about six hours.

The crash is under investigation.
