Police Investigating After Inmate Overdoses

PORTLAND, Maine (WGAN)  The Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office is investigating after a county jail inmate overdosed Wednesday.

The sheriff’s office says around 1:30 p.m., Cumberland County Transport Deputies contacted Portland Distpach for a possible overdose.  Portland Police responded and rendered first aid with Narcan to Inmate Kayla Brooks.  The 26-year-old from Kennebunk was then taken by ambulance to Maine Medical Center for treatment.

Deputies say Brooks was at the courthouse for a court appearance.

The incident is under investigation.
