Police: Man Charged After Threatening Driver with Handgun

PORTLAND, Maine (WGAN)  State Police say a New Hampshire man is facing a charge after he allegedly brandished a hand gun during a road rage incident on the Maine Turnpike.

State Police say they were called Wednesday evening around 5:05 p.m.

The caller told police another motorist had been speeding and tailgating.  The caller said when that driver passed by, they made a rude gesture, which is when the suspect pulled out a holstered hand gun and brandished it at the caller.

Police say they found the driver at mile 31 on the southbound side of the Turnpike a short while later.

Troopers say the driver, 49-year-old Philip Gordon from New Market, New Hampshire, admitted to having a handgun in the car, but denied brandishing it.

Police say he was charged with criminal threatening with a dangerous weapon.  A Glock 19 9mm was seized as well.
