RUMFORD, Maine (WGAN)  Rumford Police say three people have been taken to the hospital after being attacked by a pit bull on Erchles Street.

Our info partners at Channel 13 report that police were called around 10:25 Wednesday morning, because a pit bull was attacking a teenage girl.

The dog apparently had the girl’s leg and would not let go.  It then allegedly attacked other people.

A neighbor was able to grab the dog and hold it until police arrived.  The pit bull is being held in quarantine at a local animal shelter.

The girls’ mother was also bitten when she tried to intervene.
All three were treated at Rumford Hospital.
