Police have released the name of the man who died in a shooting in Vassalboro on Monday.

The shooting took place just after 9 a.m. inside an apartment building on Main St., which is also Route 32.

A Wednesday press release from Maine State Police said the shooting happened in a hallway, and several people who were inside the building reported hearing an argument before shots were fired.

The release said all of the people inside the building have been interviewed by police and are cooperating with the investigation.

Police say the argument started between two of the building’s residents.

The man who died as a result of the shooting was identified as Jeremy Gilley, 37, of Vassalboro.

The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner has determined the death was a homicide.

Joshua Bilodeau, 30, of Vassalboro was also shot, and is recovering at a local hospital.

At this time, police are not identifying a third male who was involved in the incident, but not hurt in the shooting.

No arrests have been made, and police are still investigating the circumstances surrounding the shooting and Gilley’s death.
