Police are investigating after a man’s body was found in Lewiston Thursday afternoon.

Lewiston police say the body of 60-year-old Marcel Beril was found a little after noon near the woods off Farwell Street.

According to dispatchers, Beril was found laying in a woman’s lawn. The death was considered suspicious when investigators arrived on scene. Police believed it may have been connected to a fight and a hit-and-run disturbance in which a car struck a home around 1 a.m.  No details about that incident have been released.

State police detectives were at the scene.

Beril’s body was taken to the Medical Examiner’s Office for an autopsy.

Police say there’s no danger to the public.
