Police say Lewiston shooting that left victim hospitalized was not random

Police in Lewiston say the victim of a shooting at a parking lot in Lewiston was taken to the hospital in serious condition on Thursday afternoon.

Lewiston police say the 27-year-old man was shot around 2:40 p.m. at the Place St. Marie Housing Development on Oxford Street.

He was found with a single gunshot wound.

Police say the shooting was not a random attack, and that the suspect and the victim were fighting.

The victim was taken to Central Maine Medical Center.
