PORTLAND, Maine (WGAN)  Portland Police say a shooting in the city over the weekend is believed to have been an accident.

Police say reckless handling of a firearm is thought to be the reason an 18-year-old woman and a 30-year-old man were injured on Sunday.

Both were treated for non-life-threatening injuries after a single bullet was fired while they were passengers in a jeep.  Police say the driver wasn’t injured.

Police say both people are recovering from their injuries.

Police say there have been no arrests at this time and they are still investigating.
