PITTSFIELD, Maine (WGAN)  State Police say the woman whose body was found in the trunk of her car in early March in Pittsfield died from a drug overdose.

The State Medical Examiner’s Office said 30-year-old Jenna French died from acute intoxication of Oxycontin and Hydroxyzine and ruled the death a suicide.

State and Pittsfield Police have investigated the death since the body was found on March 2.

The car had been towed to a car dealership from the Wal-Mart in Palmyra because relatives did not have a key to drive it after it was located in the store’s parking lot. French’s body was found when the trunk was opened at the dealership.

Detectives say their investigation showed that French crawled into the trunk from the passenger compartment and then up righted the rear seat. A bottle of pills and an iced coffee was found next to her body.

The Medical Examiner’s made their determination after receiving the results of toxicology tests.
