RUMFORD, Maine (WGAN) Police are looking for two men who attempted to rob an apartment early Tuesday morning and shot a New York man in the leg.

Police say they responded to 97 Maine Avenue in Rumford around midnight to a report of shots fired. 31-year-old Kevorn Haywood of Brooklyn was found with a gunshot wound in the leg.

Police said two men entered the apartment trying to rob the people inside, and Haywood was shot during the altercation. He was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Police believe the attack was targeted and that the two men knew each other. Anyone with information or video cameras that may have been recording in the area are asked to give police a call.
