Maine State Police are now leading the search for a man from Hampden who went missing last month.

The state police Major Crimes Unit said Thursday it’s heading up the search for 78-year-old Douglas Dunphy, who went missing on Jan. 15.

State police say their investigators are taking over due to the complexity of the case.

They said it’s an isolated incident with no ongoing public safety concerns.

Crews were expected to search Dunphy’s property on Tuesday, according to WVII.

His van was found late last month but there was no other sign of him.

Dunphy is a white male, 5′ 10″ weighing about 210 pounds.

He has green eyes and gray hair.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police at (207) 973-3700 ext. 9 and ask to speak with Detective Jennifer Fiske.
