Attorneys for Representative Bruce Poliquin are calling on the state to hold off on certifying a winner in the 2nd Congressional District race.

The Bangor Daily News reports that Poliquin’s attorneys on Tuesday requested that the 1st Circuit Court of Appeals in Boston prevent Maine from certifying a winner, while Poliquin’s appeal of a judge’s decision against him is still pending.

Poliquin lost the race to democrat Jared Golden, and has since been challenging the constitutionality of the ranked choice voting system. He held a lead in the initial tally in last month’s election, but was unable to get a majority, which is when ranked choice was used to declare Golden the winner.
