Portland Mayor Mark Dion joined The WGAN Morning News. He discussed the ineffectiveness of the Green New Deal housing rules, which mandate a 25% inclusionary zone for affordable housing, leading to reduced development. He proposed reducing this to 10% to stimulate housing growth. Dion criticized the influence of Democratic socialists and emphasized the need for business success for a thriving city.

He opposed the creation of an Ethics Commission to oversee city employees, arguing it would undermine their constitutional protections. Dion also highlighted the public health and environmental hazards posed by discarded drug needles, despite the council’s relaxed exchange policies.
