1 person, dog dead after house fire in Kennebec County

A fire at a home in Benton left one person and a dog dead.

The fire broke out overnight Wednesday morning at a home on Pleasant Drive, which was closed while crews battled the blaze.

Fire crews found one person and one dog dead inside the home.

The person’s body was brought to the medical examiner’s office to find out the cause of death and their identity.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
