A Portland man accused of stabbing his neighbor to death pleaded not guilty to murder Wednesday.

Jonathan Alas, 27, is charged in the death of Christopher Godin.

The men lived in the same apartment building on Cumberland Avenue.

Police found Godin, 58, dead by the building’s main entrance in February.

Alas was found in his apartment unit with a single puncture wound in his abdomen.

The arraignment provided no new details on the case and no potential motive for the alleged killing.

The Portland Press Herald reports that the suspect’s trial is tentatively scheduled for August 2024.

Godin was the founder of Granny’s Burritos, a popular Portland restaurant that closed in 2017.
