Portland Police Arrest Stabbing Suspect

PORTLAND, Maine (WGAN) Portland police say they’ve made an arrest in connection with a stabbing on Monday.

39-year-old Robert Jerome is in custody and charged with Aggravated Assault for assaulting and cutting a man with a knife in the area of Portland Street at Alder Street just before 3:00pm on Monday. The 47-year-old victim was found with knife wounds on his chest and hands. He was treated at the scene for non-life threatening injuries.

Police found Jerome at his residence shortly after the incident and arrested him. They say Jerome and the victim knew each other.

Jerome is being held at Cumberland County Jail awaiting arraignment. He’s also charged with Violation of a Conditional Release.

Anoyone who witnessed the assault is asked to call Portland police.
