Portland police arrest suspect in attempted burglary at Maine Historical Society

PORTLAND, Maine (WGAN) Portland police say an arrest was made early Wednesday morning in connection with an attempted burglary at the Maine Historical Society on Congress Street.

Police say they were called to the area around 2:45 a.m. by someone who reported hearing the sound of breaking glass. Police found that the glass front door had been smashed, but no entry was made.

Police then found 30-year-old Tim Toun along with a second person on Preble Street. Toun, who had an active warrant out for his arrest, was taken into custody for the warrant, charging him with 2 counts of theft.

The second subject was released without charges.
