Portland Police Arrest Suspect in State Theater Stabbing

PORTLAND, Maine (WGAN) An arrest has been made in connection with a stabbing at Portland’s State Theater.

Portland Police say 27-year-old Joseph Lewis was arrested Monday evening around 6:30 and charged with Elevated Aggravated Assault. He was the suspect in the stabbing of a 29-year-old man from Norway, Maine during a show on Sunday night. The incident caused police to end the concert early and evacuate the venue.

The victim’s injuries were non-life threatening.

Police say Lewis is being held at Cumberland County Jail with bail set at $3,000. He’s set to be arraigned on Wednesday.

The investigation is still ongoing and police are still asking anyone with knowledge about the incident to call them.
