Portland police say a homeless man is accused of threatening a person with what appeared to be real gun.

David Singer with the Portland Police Department says 51-year-old Ray Morris, a local transient, is accused of displaying the weapon, which was later determined to be an airsoft rifle, in a threatening manner.

Officers witnessed the incident Friday morning while leaving the Community Policing substation on Portland Street.

The department said there were no clear markers on the gun indicating it was not a lethal weapon, and police approached Morris with the understanding he posed a threat.

Morris was charged with reckless conduct.
