PORTLAND, Maine (WGAN) Portland police say a 63-year-old man has died from injuries he suffered from an assault in August.

Police say Rodney Cleveland died Sunday in the hospital, where he was being treated after getting assaulted on August 3rd. His manner of death was ruled a homicide following an autopsy. They determined Cleveland died of blunt force trauma.

62-year-old Everett Meserve, Cleveland’s neighbor, has been in custody since the assault and was initially charged with elevated aggravated assault. He was arrested Tuesday at Cumberland County Jail and charged with murder.
