Portland Police Make Arrest in Connection with Oxford Street Shooting


PORTLAND, Maine (WGAN)  Portland Police say an arrest has been made in connection with last week’s homicide.

Last Tuesday, 45-year-old Jack Wilson was shot during an altercation on Oxford Street.  A Portland Police officer was in the area and heard the gunshot.  He provided aid to Wilson, who was then taken to Maine Medical Center.

Wilson died a week later from his injuries.

Police say 19-year-old Tyrese Collins has been charged with Wilson’s murder.

Police say Collins was arrested on June 29 on a warrant charging him with a bail violation.  He was already in the Cumberland County Jail when he was charged with murder.

Police say Collins is expected to be arraigned on Monday, July 9.

Police say they are still interviewing witnesses in connection with the shooting.
