Portland police say an officer was injured while trying to make an arrest.

Police say the officer suffered a concussion and a chipped tooth while trying to take 34-year-old Kellen Hollenkamp into custody on Sunday night.

The officer tried to stop Hollenkamp for a traffic violation on High Street near Deering Street around 11 p.m.

The driver fled, and their vehicle was later found abandoned on Brackett Street, where it was left running while still in gear and rolled into a parked car.

Police say Hollenkamp was found forcing his way into an apartment on Walker Street, where he violently resisted arrest, kicking one officer in the face.

The officer was treated on the scene and at Maine Medical Center.

Hollenkamp will be charged once he’s released from the hospital. His bail was set at $3,500.
