Portland Police Respond to Homicide on Cumberland Avenue


PORTLAND, Maine (WGAN) Portland Police announced Sunday afternoon that they made an arrest in connection with a homicide that happened earlier in the morning.

According to investigators, 61 year-old Gregory Vance was arrested and charged with murder in connection with the death of a Portland woman on Sunday.

Police said they responded to the scene at 362 Cumberland Ave around 10:45 a.m. Sunday morning and discovered the victim.

Vance was taken into custody at the scene and is currently being held at the Cumberland County Jail, according to Portland Police.

An autopsy will be conducted by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner to determine the exact cause & manner of the woman’s death.
The victim is currently not being identified pending notification to next of kin.
