Portland police search for driver involved in hit-and-run with skateboarder

PORTLAND, Maine (WGAN) Portland police are looking for the driver of a car that collided with a man on a skateboard Wednesday night.

Police say 25-year-old Wayne Harwood of Portland was riding his skateboard, entering Cumberland Avenue from Avon Street when he was struck by a passing car. Harwood is being treated at Maine Medical Center with serious injuries. The incident happened at 11:10pm Wednesday.

The car was last seen heading east on Cumberland in the direction of High Street. It’s described as a white sedan that should have damage to the passenger side. A
