A spokesperson for Anthem insurance says the company has requested that Northern Light Health extend a deadline for reimbursement negotiations.

Both sides have blamed each other for failure to move forward with an agreement, with the previous contract expiring at midnight on Wednesday.

In a development Tuesday night, Anthem requested an extension of the deadline, but there was no official response from Northern Light.

If a deal isn’t reached, patients with Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield will be considered out-of-network for many services at Northern Light facilities.
