Town councilors in Kittery voted unanimously to kill a proposed housing project.

Dennett Landing, the 900-unit development that would have brought more than 2,000 new residents to Kittery, faced pushback from petitioners who say it would bring too much growth all at once.

Developers said the growth would be more gradual, with the development taking 12 to 15 years to complete.

According to CBS 13 News, councilors voted unanimously Wednesday night to kill the project, and place a six-month moratorium on considering any new development on the 82 acre stretch of land near Dennett Road.
