Repairs to safety arm on Casco Bay Bridge will lead to closure

The Casco Bay Bridge will be closed Tuesday after a driver hit and damaged a barrier on the southbound side of the bridge in Portland.

On Monday, the driver of a plow truck hit the barrier which is lowered when the drawbridge goes up.

The city says the bridge will be closed to southbound traffic going from Portland to South Portland Tuesday from 9 am to 3 pm. Both lanes will be closed while MaineDOT and contractors replace the barricade.

Drivers are being urged to use the Veterans Memorial Bridge during that time.
