A Maine man is accused of setting a fire that destroyed a home in Richmond on Thursday.

The Maine Fire Marshal’s Office says 40-year-old Robert Jolly was charged with arson. He’s accused of setting the fire at the home on Arnie Drive in Richmond early Thursday morning. Three people were home at the time and were able to make it out safely, but a cat did not survive. The house is a total loss.

Investigators say Jolly is related to the homeowners.

Jolly was taken to Two Bridges Jail in Wiscasset.

There’s been no word on a possible motive.
