FRYEBURG, Maine (AP) Three transportation projects around the state of Maine are getting a boost of nearly $27 million from the federal government.
One of the projects is in Kingfield, Woodstock and Fryeburg while one is in Waterville and another is a statewide effort by Maine Department of Transportation. The projects will be funded through the federal BUILD program.
The grant to MDOT is an award of more than $8.2 million to help replace and enhance 104 traffic signals statewide with updated technology. The improvements in Kingfield, Woodstock and Fryeburg are called the “Western Gateways Project.”
Maine Republican Sen. Susan Collins is the chair of the Transportation Appropriations Subcommittee, and she advocated for the three projects to be funded. She says the projects will improve the state’s transportation network while creating jobs.
