Rumford Man Facing Charges Now Tied to Guns

Alexander Taylor Kubesh - Rumford Police

A 33-year-old Rumford man, already in jail on drug and child endangerment charges, is facing more charges after police say they found a stash of weapons.

Police arrested Alexander Taylor Kubesh last month after finding quantities of multiple drugs at his home, along with two young children living in “severely unsanitary and unsafe” conditions.

Officers say no firearms were discovered during the April search of his home, but they received credible information suggesting Kubesh was concealing firearms at a secondary location in Roxbury.

Police say they were able to get a search warrant of 419 Roxbury Notch Road in Roxbury Wednesday, and found an AR-10 rifle, a .50-caliber muzzleloader, a firearm suppressor (silencer) and assorted ammunition.

Kubesh is a convicted felon and is legally prohibited from possessing firearms.

As a result, Rumford Police have now filed three new felony charges of Possession of a Firearm by a Prohibited Person against Kubesh. Each count carries a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison and a $20,000 fine if convicted. He is expected to be arraigned on the new charges in court on Friday.
