LEWISTON, Maine (WGAN) A second employee at the Maine DHHS office in Lewiston has tested positive for COVID-19, prompting the office to shut down for a second time.

Maine’s Department of Health and Human Services announced Wednesday that the employee had last worked in the office several days prior to it’s first closure on March 25th. Those who came in contact with that person have been notified and informed as to whether or not testing will be necessary.

The department says they had reduced the number of staff working at the office prior to the first confirmed case. They say the second person who tested positive did not visit client’s homes or have significant engagement with the public.

Officials say the building had been thoroughly cleaned and sanitized and re-opened on Monday. It will close again on Thursday until further notice.
