President Trump blasted Maine Sen. Susan Collins for voting in favor of a war powers resolution aimed at limiting further military action against Venezuela.

In a statement, Sen. Collins says she supported the capture of former Venezuelan president Nicolas Maduro, calling him a “narco-terrorist” and “illegitimate dictator.”

Sen. Collins went on to say she does not support committing additional U.S. military forces or any long-term military involvement in Venezuela:

I believe invoking the War Powers Act at this moment is necessary, given the President’s comments about the possibility of “boots on the ground and a sustained engagement “running” Venezuela, with which I do not agree.

The resolution advanced in the Senate on Thursday, prompting a post from President Trump saying Senate Republicans who voted for the resolution should never be elected to office again:

The resolution, put forward by Democratic Sen. Tim Kaine of Virginia, advanced in the Senate in a 52-47 vote.

It would require the president to seek authorization from Congress before carrying out additional military action in Venezuela.
