Sentencing has been postponed for a woman who was convicted of murder in the death of her 10-year-old daughter.

Police said Sharon Carrillo and her estranged husband beat the girl for months, eventually causing her death in their Stockton Springs home in 2018.

She was scheduled to be sentenced Friday in Waldo County Superior Court, but it was closed down for the day due to the weather.

The high-profile case prompted changes to the state’s child protection system.

The woman’s estranged husband, Julio Carrillo, is serving a 55-year sentence for his role in the girl’s death.

No word yet on the new sentencing date for Sharon Carrillo.
