BANGOR, Maine (AP) — Sentencing has been delayed for one of two New York men charged in a shooting that left one person dead and another wounded in Bangor, Maine.

Police say 38-year-old Robert Kennedy was killed and another man wounded on Nov. 27, 2015. Law enforcement officials say the shots were fired to settle a drug debt.

A Superior Court judge in June found Brooklyn resident Thomas Ferguson guilty of murder and elevated aggravated assault after finding that he was an accomplice to the shootings. Jurors found 29-year-old Robert Hansley guilty of the same charges in the shooting.

Ferguson’s sentencing has been rescheduled to Jan. 8.

The men face decades to life in prison and are being tried separately. Ferguson’s lawyer has told reporters that the court lacked evidence to prove Ferguson guilty.
