Serious Crash in Waterboro Sends 10-Month-Old to the Hospital; Box Truck Driver Arrested


WATERBORO, Maine (WGAN) A 10-month old child was Life Flighted to Maine Medical Center after a serious crash in Waterboro Thursday morning.

The York County Sheriff’s Office says 37-year-old Ellen Kennedy of Sanford was driving her Jeep on Route 202 (or Main Street) around 6:30am, and was hit by a box truck while waiting to make a left turn on to Straw Mill Brook Road. The box truck was being driven by 53-year-old Rene Romero of Massachusetts. The infant was seriously injured and hospitalized.

Romero was arrested for aggravated driving to endanger and is expected to be arraigned Friday.

Romero and Kennedy suffered minor injuries and were treated at the scene.
