Police in Westbrook are still seeking answers about a nearly 4-decade old homicide.

Maine State Police say that as of this past Saturday, it had been 38 years since then-23-year-old Alice Hawkes was found dead in her Spring Street apartment.

Officials say she lived with her boyfriend, who returned home from running errands to find the door locked. After getting inside, Hawkes was found dead on the floor with her throat slashed.

Her boyfriend wasn’t named a suspect in the case.

Maine State Police are asking anyone with information about the case to call them.
