The Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office says a deputy was injured when they were struck by a car door as a suspect tried to get away.

The sheriff’s office says the deputy pulled 29-year-old Zachary Laney of Bridgton over at the Naples Causeway due to multiple violations.

The deputy says Laney was uncooperative and refused to provide any information.

When the deputy tried to take the suspect into custody, he reportedly sped off and the deputy was struck by the door.

The suspect was followed through Bridgton, Denmark and Sebago.

Spike mats blew out Laney’s front tires at the intersection of Hancock Pond Road and Route 107 in Sebago.

The vehicle continued to Folly Road in Sebago, where it stopped and Laney was arrested.

He faces a long list of charges, including assault on an officer, operating after suspension and violation of conditions of release.

The deputy suffered minor injuries and was treated at Maine Medical Center.
